Stok Kangri (6123mtrs)​

The most famous peak in the Ladakh region. And it’s often climbed as an initial non-technical foray into high-altitude mountaineering. It is also an extremely adventurous Trip To Leh Ladakh itinerary summit in India and a must-visit peak for trekking lovers.

Day 01. Stok Trekking point to Mankarmo Camp 4400mtrs (4/5Hrs)

 

Early Morning drive to Stok village which is about 30 minutes from Leh. Start walking from the trekking point along the stream. It is a long walk through the valley. The Mankarmo Camp is at the point from where the valley turns southward. It is possible to trek up to the first base camp in a day, but to get acclimatized it is recommended to make it in two days. Overnight in Camp at Mankarmo.

 

Day 02. Mankarmo Camp to Base Camp 4900mtrs (2/3Hrs)

The next day if you keep walking in the same direction for about an hour, you get to the base camp of Stok Kangri. It involves crossing the stream at several points during the forward march. Once you get there, rest for a few hours because it's the same night you climb the peak of the Stok Kangri.

 

At night. Scaling the peak of 6123m

Keep your torch and other climbing gear ready before. You will be attempting the summit at midnight as it is the best time to start the adventure. Get in time at the advanced base camp and then wait till the day breaks for enough light to do the climbing. Start crossing the glacier towards the southeast and then climb the peak to the western side. There are two ways to go up, one from the right side of the glacier, which is more technical, and on the left side trail is easier having steps of rocks to reach the summit. The shoulder is a challenge but once you make it there nothing will matter as you will be experiencing the great joy and view of the entire Karakoram range from the top.

 

Day 03. Summit, back to Base Camp

You can follow the same route back to the camp. Once you make your way back there with our guide, you will have a well-deserved rest and can celebrate the joy at the camp later. Overnight at the base camp.

 

Day 04. Base Camp - back to Leh​

​

Easy Morning trek down to the trekking point after breakfast and drive back to Leh and enjoy a wonderful memory at one of the finest cuisines in town.​
