Chadar Trek

Chadar is not a standard mountain trail. The route follows the frozen Zanskar River, and that means the trek changes constantly with temperature, flow, and ice formation. The classic day-by-day route from Chilling to Nyerak and back still captures the heart of the experience: touching the ice near Chilling, learning the Ladakhi shuffle on the frozen river, moving past frozen waterfalls and narrow gorges, and adapting each day to whatever the river allows. This is why we present Chadar carefully. It is one of the most memorable winter journeys in Ladakh, but it only works when guests understand that route flow, camps, and even walking time can change with conditions.
