This trip combines one of Ladakh's best trekking routes with a genuine summit objective, which is why it appeals so strongly to trekkers ready for the next step beyond standard valley trekking. Kang Yatse rises at the head of Markha Valley and is approached through one of Ladakh's most popular trekking regions. The route logic works well: first move through the Markha Valley for acclimatization, then shift into summit mode once the body has adapted to the altitude. In practice, most commercial trekking-peak itineraries for strong trekkers are built around Kang Yatse II, the more accessible summit compared with the more technical Kang Yatse I. Even so, this remains a serious high-altitude expedition-style journey. Along the route you may see major Ladakh ranges, rich valley scenery, and wildlife such as marmots, blue sheep, ibex, and, with luck, signs of snow leopard country around the lower approach.
