Markha Valley remains the best all-round Ladakh trek for many travellers because it gives you almost everything people imagine when they picture trekking here. You move through villages, wide river valleys, grazing country, monastery landscapes, and two major passes. The route feels big and high, but it is still a trekking journey rather than a climbing expedition. That makes it a very strong fit for fit walkers and trekkers visiting Ladakh for the first time. The classic Hemis National Park side approach uses Zinchen, Rumbak, Yurutse, Ganda La, Skiu, Markha, and Nimaling before the exit over Kongmaru La. That line is still very relevant today, even though some modern operators also use road-supported variations from the Chilling side. We prefer a version with proper acclimatization and sensible support built around that classic line. The route is still earned, but it should feel well-paced rather than chaotic.
